[Sporbiz Exclusive] Group NU'EST's fans are becoming a (role) model example while building a strong fan culture. Their fans, in commemoration of NU'EST 2000 days, have made a donation of the highest amount to the grandmothers who were 'comfort women' of the Japanese Army.

On the 7th, NU'EST fans made a joint order of bracelets from social enterprise Marymond, of which all proceeds are donated to comfort women. Out of all fanclubs, the fans reached the highest donation amount of 6,348,000 KRW. With this, they made a purchase of 529 comfort women bracelets. In commemoration of NU'EST's upcoming 2000 days on September 4, this kind deed is something for all to be happy about.

The team behind the Marymond donation, on the 8th, stated "We made this donation to make it known that the NU'EST members aren't just the image that they show outside, but are also in reality, kind young men. Even if it's just a little, we hope it would help the grandmothers who were affected as 'comfort women' to the Japanese Army.

The kind deed of the fans were greatly influenced by NU'EST member Ren (Choi Minki). Usually, Ren carries around a badge or phone case from Marymond which supports comfort women, taking the first step of donation. Ren, during his unknown days, gave a Marymond badge to a fan who recognized him in public. This was only made known later on, and it became a topic. That fan wrote "Ren bought this as a gift to his friends, but gifted it to me. Together with the badge, he showed his support to me, who failed my university entrance exam", expressing thanks.
The badge that Ren gave to the fan, is one that can only be obtained through the purchase of an entrance ticket to comfort woman victim grandmother Kim Bokdong's exhibition, or by sponsoring it. A part of the proceeds from it go to building a History Museum, while the rest goes to funding the grandmother's welfare.

Other than Ren, there have been other stars which have shown their support towards the 'comfort women' grandmothers of the Japanese Army. From movie 'Battleship Island's Hwang Jungmin, So Jisub, Song Joongki, Lee Junghyun, to Han Jimin, Park Bogum and Suzy, (these stars) have been using Marymond's badges, phone cases, bags, bracelets etc. Marymond stated "The sum NU'EST fans donated will be passed on to the already established foundation for justice, which aims to solve the issue of the Japanese Army 'comfort women'. Recently, following Ren, other cast of Produce 101 have been using Marymond's products, increasing the donation amount."

NU'EST, through the recently ended Mnet 'Produce 101' Season 2, has risen up as a trend (idol). Excluding Aron (Kwak Youngmin), members Ren, JR (Kim Jonghyun), Baekho (Kang Dongho), Hwang Minhyun, despite them having debuted for 4 years, took up the challenge of being idols again and received attention. Hwang Minhyun was chosen to be part of 'Produce 101' Season 2's project group Wanna One. The other members are currently promoting as unit NU'EST W. NU'EST W will be holding a fanmeet 'L.O.Λ.E&DREAM' on the coming 26~27th, and meeting their fans there.
